Hi @Nosmarb ,
As you’ve already surmised, you need to swap apps.
The difference being, you use the Charge Anytime app if you have a compatible EV but not charger (so the app links to the EV), but you use the charger app if you have a compatible charger (and the system links/controls via the charger)
There are some other details on the whys and wherefore’s over here
“The Charge Anytime app is used for direct to vehicle (D2V) control. Where a customer has an eligible vehicle but does not have an eligible charger, they should use the D2V app. Where a customer has an eligible charger (regardless of whether or not their vehicle is eligible), they should use the charger app.
The difference between the two at the moment is that the D2V customer will see savings in their D2V app, whilst the charger customer can see savings in a page called “Your EV” in the My OVO account.
If a customer has an eligible charger and has downloaded the D2V app, they are likely to be setting schedules in multiple apps which will cause a conflict in commands being sent to charge the battery. As a result they may miss their ready by times and will probably not be able to reconcile their Charge Anytime credits.”
The fog is lifting. That does make it much clearer. Thank you.
Are Ovo working with BYD to make the cars compatible with charge anytime so that other chargers could be used?
Hey @Paul4AA,
You can find the list of compatible EVs and chargers here. You only need a compatible EV or charger, not both, to take part in Charge Anytime
I know that already hence my question. I’ve already had a Kia which wasn’t compatible and wonder whether BYD will be the same. The current range of compatible untethered chargers are limiting and according to reviews there are better ones out there. I haven’t had a charger installed yet.
As far as we know, BYD isn’t currently listed so we can’t say if/when it will be. It’s not just down to OVO - the EV Manufacturer has to play ball too.
If you desire Charge Anytime support now, your best bet would be via a supported Charger.
