Are OVO Charge Anytime and Givenergy EV charger compatible?

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

Having installed a Givenergy AIO system to take advantage of OVOs Battery Boost (automatic, overnight charging at cheap rate), we are now turning our thoughts to an EV charger.

OVOs Charge Anytime add on (7p per kWh EV charging) is only available if you choose from a list of compatible EV chargers ( Givenergy isn't on this list!).

Are there any plans to ensure compatibility of the new Givenergy EV charger as I would prefer my equipment to come from the same manufacturer? I'm assuming that Givenergy will produce an EV charger that is compatible with its All in One battery?

Thanks.

Hi @mikes01666 ,

At the moment the only Chargers that are compatible with Charge Anytime with Solar setups are Indra and Hypervolt - out of the two I’d recommend going towards Hypervolt based on what we’ve seen on the Forum as you’ll probably get better support from their team.

I can’t give you an estimate on if/when Givenergy Chargers might be supported by Charge Anytime - the team also doesn’t know if/when this may happen.

At the moment, you can’t use Charge Anytime and Battery Boost at the same time - you’d need to pick one or the other. This may change in the future though.

Thank you.

I wasn't aware of not being able to use both at the same time.  This is a significant problem and means you can run the house, or the car, on cheap rate electricity,  but not both.

There is no overt mention of this when you look at Charge Anytime on the website. Or I have missed it!

Is there any timescale associated with a resolution?

I can’t say when using both at once will be possible at this time. However, you can configure a Hypervolt Charger to exclusively use Solar/Battery power and never run from the grid which may help in some ways.

Worth noting though - always do your research and check the smallprint before buying.

Certainly good advice to check the small print!

The Hypervolt solution may constantly drain the AIO in order to charge the larger car battery leaving nothing for the house. Not an ideal solution.

You can also configure it to NEVER use the Battery. Hypervolt did think of that! :)

Ok. Thanks for the advice.  I'll look into it.
