Hope someone can help with this. I need to close the account of my elderly mother who has moved into a care home.
Looking at the help pages it looks as if closing accounts is based on receiving meter reading from a new supplier. What if you simply need to close the account and there is no new supplier?
I cant find an option on the website to simply close the account.

Someone has to be responsible for the supply and paying for it, even though no-one’s home. If the property is to be sold, the current account holder is liable until the sale is finalized. If it’s a rented property, the landlord is responsible until a new tenant takes over. Even though there’s no usage, the standing charge is payable every day. What is the situation with your mother’s home?
Here’s a note from someone who wanted to close an account. From what you’ve said it sounds a similar route forwards although you might need to wait for an end to the tenancy

Its a council bungalow and she hasn’t lived there in months. We now know that she will never return to the bungalow and that in the next month or so we will be asked to clear the property of all her belongings.
I wish to close her Ovo account now to expedite matters.
