My supply was capped by cadent in January as they were upgrading the pipes in the area (January??!!)

and as I have mental health issues, I was unable to allow them access to do whatever it is they needed to do when it's switched back on,

So, now I'm capped,  cold,  depressed and I have no help and I never know when I'm able to allow them in (bi-polar with extreme lows).

The council have been round (February) for their annual check, they did arrange for cadent to come, but I couldn't handle it. Especially after the engineer called me, was rude, shouting and telling me to contact my gas supplier (ovo).

I guess my question is, help?

Any advice, suggestions, anything I can do at short notice when I'm 'awake'?

Cadent do need access to uncap the supply, until you can/do let them in there is nothing else that they can do.

Firstly: Are you registered on the Cadent Priority Services Register, so that they know that you have a Bipolar condition and they need to give extra help and understanding?

Second: Sign up to the OVO Priority Register too, if you haven’t already done so: https://www.ovoenergy.com/help/article/priority-services-register

Third: Are you aware of Bipolar UK? https://www.bipolaruk.org/
They have an online support forum where you may get further help from others who have faced similar problems with letting people into their property to carry out needed works.

Being practcal:
Do you have a carer, or someone who could support you, someone who you are happy to let into your property so that they can be there to let the engineer in to uncap your supply?

Hi,

You have posted this question twice, just the once is enough.

I have given some advice in your other post:

I’m really sorry to hear of the issues you’ve had @Mrm, it sounds like a very stressful experience.

Nukecad has given some really helpful advice here:

A capped supply can be uncapped, if safe to do so, by a gas safe engineer. But it sounds like Cadent need to do some work to the pipes before the supply is uncapped? Have you contacted our support team as the engineer advised? There may be something our team can do. Or they can advise next steps.

If you prefer to contact this way, our Support team’s web messaging and WhatsApp opening hours are:

  • 8am - 6pm Monday to Friday

  • 9am - 2pm on Saturdays
