We have recently bought a Jaguar I-Pace, and we have been offered a free EV charger from them, but it is a podpoint. We are now in a quandary as to whether to have OVO fit their charger at cost, but allow OVO anytime, or have Jaguar fit a free one, but not compatible with a Podpoint. Is there any news that OVO may allow podpoint in the future?
HiÂ
Unfortunately, probably not happening anytime soon. Podpoint is owned by EDF these days, so there’s a commercial conflict of interest on their side and they’ve refused to work with OVO.
Unless that changes, OVO can’t support Podpoint. Your best bet is to go for a compatible one, which you can find via this list. ALL Chargers that OVO sells are compatible though. If you want a really good one that works VERY nicely with OVO Charge Anytime, I’d go for the Hypervolt option at https://www.ovoenergy.com/electric-cars/smart-charger as we’ve seen a lot of folks on the Forum raving about how well it works.
In the long run, it’s probably better for your pocket.
Thank you for reply, that is very helpful. Makes our decision easy. We will go ahead with our quote from OVO.Â
No worries! Once the Charger is installed, grab the Charge Anytime app from your favourite app store and use that to set it up if you chose Hypervolt or Anderson. If you go with Ohme or Indra, you’ll need to use their web apps to set things up.
Any trouble, feel free to swing by and we’ll see what we can do.
