We have the smart meter installed few months ago, I always keep an eye on the cost of the electricity we have used by midnight till the meter switch off automatically, it not matching with the daily usage in the Bills

I do consider the standard daily charge which is: (00:64P)

to be honest I did switch everything off all day and night in the house, still £2:35   ???

Also, Is the VAT included or excluded on the displayed cost of electricity, if excluded is it 5% ?

if it is 5%  still not matching.

Presumably @Hadmbes , you are talking about your in home display (IHD) rather than the smart meter itself? (They are not the same thing).

When you say that you switched everything off do you include any refrigerator, lighting, chargers etc.?

Yes, you are right, mean the home display HD.

I literately switched everything thing off refrigerator, boiled, lights and I used a torch night time, and no one in the house.

So what exactly do you see .. the IHD can show daily, weekly and monthly charges.
The meters also don’t update instantly. There is a delay between usage and charge registering on the display. Gas only updates every 30 mins

I know it displayed daily. Weekly and Monthly charges.

the question is:

why the meter or the display HD charge more money even though everything switched off, excluding the daily standard charge.

kind regards

The IHD includes the standing charge and might not be using the correct tariff. Your account detail will confirm the actual charge, not the IHD.

Without knowing exactly what you are seeing (a photo is useful), we can only guess but here’s a guide that might help

Hi @Hadmbes,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing problems with your IHD.

It seems our forum volunteer has already given some good advice here.

It may be worth contacting the Support team who would be able to look into this further for you. I’m afraid as we don’t have access to your account here via the forum, we’re limited in how we can help. As BPLightlog has mentioned, we can only really guess.

Please feel free to upload a picture of your IHD so we can see if we’re able to give some more advice.
