Hi,

Will OVO "open the HAN" to allow use of a CAD (consumer access device) such that I can access the data from the Liberty electricity/gas meters?

Specifically this CAD. Alternatively is there any other means to retrieve "live" meter data in a less useless way than screen-scraping the Ovo website or a webcam on the IHD?

It's an R&D project on combi boiler efficiency. "Real time" heat use is easy using heat/electricity sub-meters with open M-Bs protocols. "Real time" gas use is tricksy.

Thanks,
M

Heya @mgoodge !

There is indeed. There are currently two vendors that are approved by DCC for this - Hildebrand and ivie.

Hildebrand is via the Hildebrand Glow IHD and ivie is via the ivie Bud. For your use case, the Hildebrand Glow is probably the best option.

OVO doesn’t offer direct support for them.

I have tried both devices noted by Blastoise and now use the Hildebrand Glow unit alongside the Chameleon IHD.
Hildebrand run both an API and MQTT alongside their devices and you can access data via Glowmarkt
There are other routes to get your data besides acquiring another IHD but I quite like the additional info screen

I regularly download the ½ hour stats via the Hildebrand API after giving them access to my usage data.  This requires registering with them and then programming up the API (in Perl in my case) so I can dump it into my own database and draw graphs when I am bored.  Works for me and cost nothing.  Last time I looked the IHD device was about £80?
