Hey there!

I’ve got some good news to share with everyone today, and we’re hoping that this helps to make the OVO Forum more useful for you. We’ve heard that some members would rather not get flooded with loads of emails from the forum and this is definitely something that Tim has wanted to improve upon. And I’m pleased to announce that it’s completed.

Thanks to a recently released feature that the platform provider has just given us, it’s now possible to unsubscribe from email alerts sent by the OVO Forum with just a single click. This will make it so that all alerts of that same type are turned off all at once. This is on top of the existing settings you can already manage in your Profile. The new method won’t require a login and is designed to be completely one-click. Your request should be completed within 90 seconds and further emails of the same type should stop by the end of the day. You won’t be opted-in again without your permission.

The only caveat is that if you unsubscribe from @mentions then you won’t be able to re-enable those right now. We’re working on that with help from inSided. Hang in there and we’ll get that working as soon as we can. For everything else, you can switch them on and off in your settings at anytime while you’re logged in.

If you only want to unsubscribe from a single topic, simply head over here and clear the Star next to the topic you want to unsubscribe from.

@Tim_OVO has gone through all the email templates this week and added the new Unsubscribe URL feature to all of the ones that support it, so they should all work as expected. But if you spot any issues at all, please give us a shout and we’ll take a look.

Please note that this does not apply to one-off “transactional” emails such as password resets - these only get sent out on a one-time basis in response to something you do. But you won’t get flooded by these anyway. :)

There’s some more details over on the inSpired Community if you’d like to know more.

Thanks for joining us on our journey!

Thanks for the news share, @Blastoise186

To make this extra clear, this unsubscribe feature is only available for the following automated email notifications:

  • @mention,
  • New topic,
  • New reply,
  • Private message,
  • Topic answered: Is your problem solved

Hopefully this will mean you get to keep the email notifications you find helpful and stop the rest.
