I've been told OVO have opened up their 'customer care package' scheme for free electric blankets, is the criteria really strict or are is it not true?

I'm on low income (benefits) with 2 children (10&2) have physical and mental illnesses and all i get offered is financial advice.

Is it because I'm pay as you go so don't have any debt with them?

Hi @DonnaSwan ,

I believe the criteria is more open than that. Bear with me while I dig up more info!

No, how you pay has no bearing on whether you’re eligible for extra support from OVO, including items like heated throws. There’s a fairly simple application form; applications open tomorrow (1 October) so don’t try submitting your form before then. You’ll quickly find out what help OVO can offer.

With an infant in the house, you could benefit from being on the Priority Services Register. This could be invaluable if your power suddenly goes off, for example.

Good luck!

If you’re getting the low battery warning on a PAYG Meter, it’s probably time to upgrade it - let OVO Support know you’re up for a Smart Meter upgrade (if you don’t have them already) and they can set this up - it’s the fastest way.

Hey @DonnaSwan

Welcome to the OVO Online Community,

I’ve taken a look on the website & it doesn’t specifically outline eligibility criteria but says the form takes only two minutes to complete so definitely worth giving it a go.

Am I eligible?

If you think you’ll struggle to pay your bills and you’re an OVO or Boost customer, then you might be eligible. It doesn’t take long to apply for support and you’ll get your answer right away.

When you apply for support, things like household income, any disposable income, and medical needs will be taken into account –  to help prioritise those who need help most.

We won’t be able to offer everything to everyone – but we’re hoping to help as many people as possible. Our specialist teams will be available to speak to any of our customers who are worried about energy costs.

Apply for OVO Extra Support

This application takes around 2 minutes to complete.

You'll need to tell us your monthly disposable income. This is the money you have left after paying tax, rent or mortgage payments, and essentials like utility bills. You can use this online budgeting tool to help you work it out.

If you're not an OVO or Boost customer, check with your energy supplier to see what support they offer. Ask Bill also gives free, independent energy advice.

Very clear, thanks @Emmanuelle_OVO
