I’m not sure their reply addressed my issue with the black screen upon opening the app though, so hopefully they get back to me with some additional support.

The teams are working hard to implement this, so it should be available soon! Do you have the OVO Beyond app yet? If not, I recommend it, as it’s our version of an energy savings account. You can find more information at https://www.ovoenergy.com/beyond.
Another suggestion is our Power Move challenge, which allows you to earn up to £15 per month back on your bills! I left a topic for you below from other users on this path who are already sharing their tips to maximise this.
