I’m currently on the 2 Year Fixed 18 April 2024 and have now had the email about moving to another fixed plan.

while looking into this i looked in the Ovo app and have 3 different unit prices for electricity and gas showing in different places and now have no idea which one to use as a comparison.

The bill shows the rate as 23.85p per kWh

The View Plan and Rate is showing 20.51p per kWh

on the renew page if is select current contract it shows 21.54p per kWh

Does anyone know why there would be 3 different rates shown for the same plan?

Looking at the three rates you have provided I think the 20.51 rate refers to the short term tariff from April to June. The renew page will show your rate going forward and reflects the fact there is a planned change in the energy cap from July.

Hi @pb940

The unit rate of 23.85p is the rate that it was before the 1st April when all unit  rates, including fixed rates, went down due to government changes.
If you look at that first screenshot is says that tariff eneded on 31st March 2026.

Your revised fixed tairff is your second screenshot which says it started on1st April and is now 20.51p.

The 21.54p in the third screenshot is simply the 20.51p plus 5% VAT.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the Plan page then it tels you there that VAT is excluded from those figures.

You have to be careful because the plan pages and your billling) show the unit rate before VAT.

However for the purposes of renewals, quotes, and comparisions the rate including VAT is shown, to make it easier to compare with other companies tariff rates.

Thanks @Nukecad that makes more sense.

It’s hard knowing what to do with fixing a new plan with the way the world is at the moment, without the confusing rate details I was being shown

To check the various currently available OVO fixes put you postcode in here:

https://plans.ovoenergy.com/

Once the plans come up you then need to set the filters to your meter type and preferred payment method to cut the list down to a managable size.

I know what you mean though, when my fix ended during the last energy crisis I just went to the Standard Variable rate (called Simpler Energy at OVO) until prices got more reasonable and I fixed again.

Morning @pb940, I hope you’re well, and thanks for your question. Thanks to @DavidWSR and @Nukecad for your great replies as well - spot on.

Just to let you know @pb940, if your a dual fuel customer and a homeowner, we should be launching a new tariff today, which is a 1 Year Fix including a year of complete boiler cover at no extra cost. Hopefully you find a tariff that suits you.

Let us know if you have any further questions.
