In February 2017 British Gas installed a Smart Meter. When they hiked their prices I switched to OVO in September 2017. My British Gas Smart Meter is now useless because OVO does not support the technology British Gas uses. OVO offered me one of their Smart Meters, but I can not see the point of changing again when OVO's current technology is only supported by 3 suppliers. Also, there has been a lot of press about problems with the installation of Smart Meters e.g. wall sockets over heating etc. What I need to know now is who is responsible for the operation and maintenance of my British Gas installed Smart Meters?

As you’re supplied by OVO, we’ll be responsible for your meters. If you were to switch suppliers, the new provider will be responsible for your meters.
