Can I have an Economy 10 tariff on Vcharge?

Hi,

The property that we are moving to has storage heaters and an E7 meter.

What I would like to know is am I able to move to an E10 tariff and have the vcharge installed?

I speak to an agent over the phone who advised that this would be possible but from what I have read on the forum it seems that I cannot have 10 hours of off-peak energy with a smart meter?

Can you please confirm?

Thanks,

Hey teej,

Great question!

In essence, yes. What would need to happen is the following;

1) Sign up to an Economy 7 tariff with OVO. You can generate a quote here: http://ovoener.gy/Quote
2) Have smart meter fitted (you can check the availability and book in for an appointment here: smart.ovoenergy.com/credit)
3) Then once your Vcharge system has been installed, you would be switched to Economy 10 times (but your tariff and prices would be unaffected)

Hi Lucy,

Thank you for your update.

The information available on v-charge seems somewhat scarce at the moment. Are you able to provide more information as to:
(i) the terms of the agreement (i.e. after the installation of all of this do you have to have the equipment for x time?)
(ii) the charges for the installation
(iii) estimated timescales
(iv) what are the economy 10 hours?
(v) are the economy 10 hours fixed or variable?
(vi) does it matter if the meter is manual or teleswitch?
(vii) if a meter needs to be changed or fitted is there a cost?
(viii) is there anything else that I would need to check that would make it not possible to install the v-charge?
(ix) are there any reviews on vcharge? (beyond the website clip)

A long list of questions but hoping that by answering these many others find it useful.

Thanks,
Teej
