OVO's scheme is called Power Move so I'm guessing you aren't an OVO customer?
I've done a quick search and it seems that Shift and Save is the scheme in Northern Ireland (NIE Networks) and the times are 4pm to 7pm. However, I wouldn't take my word for it and would check the communication you received from your energy company.
Bizarrely OVO have decided to call their Power Move ‘Shift and Save’ now… difficult not to say shift and shave, but hey ho.
I had an email invitation to sign up for it, which I have. Got the invitation on the 5th dec so early days yet to know more. I haven’t read the t&cs
Apologies, I'm clearly out of date 😄
It looks like the times for OVO's scheme are the same, 4-7pm. But it's definitely worth checking the communication to confirm this.
I thought this was a simple question?
As an OVO customer I have been invited to join ”Shift & Save”.
Why would I be asking an OVO Forum for information if I wasn’t an OVO Customer?
Just wanted to know what best times to shift Dishwasher, Washing Machine and Tumbledryer to to get best from this scheme.

Because people do come here and ask questions not related to OVO. We've even had people from different countries asking questions.
Just this minute had a new email from OVO about this: although the scheme starts today the actual s+s day will be notified the day before, including target times. There’s also supposed to be an s+s forum group…
Nothing’s that simple
I would say the off peak times are before 4pm and after 7pm
Hi everyone,
OVO are running two similar trials this winter:
Power Move - which has a forum group for its trialists: this trial is no longer accepting applicants. In short: Power Move aims to encourage trialists to move their weekday evening peak time usage (4-7pm) to non peak time. If trialists have less than 12.5% of their weekday usage during the peak time, they hit their target and get £20 a month off their bill.
and
Shift and Save - which has a forum group for its trialists: this trial is no longer accepting applicants
What is Shift and Save (See a Full FAQs page here)?
We want to reward our customers for taking positive actions to reduce their carbon footprint this winter.
When you sign up to Shift & Save, you’ll receive email notifications letting you know when the UK’s grid has the highest demand for energy over a specific time period or day. We’ll then ask you to switch your non-essential electricity use to another time or day when the grid has less demand. You’ll have to opt in to each individual notification to take part.
For each Shift & Save notification, we’ll send you a personalised baseline target. You’ll need to reduce non-essential electricity use under your personal target and away from peak times or busy days. This will be different for each individual notification.
If you reduce your non-essential electricity use below this personal target for each Shift & Save notification, then you’ll receive a reward based on the amount of electricity you’ve shifted below your personal target. You’ll earn a minimum of £1 for every kWh of electricity consumption shifted below this personal target.
If you don’t reduce your consumption below your personal target, then you won’t receive a reward for that notification.
Each month your reward will vary depending on the number of Shift & Save notifications you have signed up to and whether you have reduced your electricity consumption below your personal target.
A little bit more notice of planned events would be great
I understand that Ovo have to be guided by the short notice period given to them by the National Grid, which appears to be a short time frame.
I think it’s literally the afternoon before the event. Not much can be done there I’m afraid
The emails go out the afternoon before (ie I got my email yesterday afternoon for today’s s&s hour.)
Not sure what I’m doing wrong with shift and save as don’t seem to hit the target. Yesterday classic example, didn’t put the heating on until after the time allotted so only one lamp and the TV on (halogen heater on and off). What should I be turning off? Am stumped.
Hey
Sorry to hear this!
Have you been added to the Shift & Save Forum Group? It’s a great place for trialists to get together, give feedback and discuss their progress. 🙂
Hi. Yes, joined up yesterday.
Has anyone actualy had their credits added to their bill? I have taken part and been notified of earning credits. First one on 19th December 2022, to be added to next bill dated 19th January but cant see it itemised on my bill?
Why can't we have a text rather than email when we need to switch and save as I don't read my emails daily
