Question

Moving from OVO

Greetings,

Due to the recent news the OVO is more than likely going to be sold to E.on I decided it was time to switch suppliers for my duel fuel.

While I’ve never switched suppliers before, am I right in thinking that the companies will sort everything out between themselves and from OVO’s point of view I should be good once I manually send my monthly meter readings due on the 23rd of May as that’s the day that seems logical to switch on.

Will providing those meter readings to OVO be enough (along with a picture of meters for security’s sake for records) to see the transition go smoothly from this end?

Thank you for your time.

Regards,

Woo

Hey @Woojee,

We’re really sorry to see you go! We wanted to let you know that we have some handy articles about the home moving process available in our library. You can check them out at this link: your guide to moving home, joining or leaving OVO.

As part of the switching process, we’ll take care of submitting your meter readings to your new supplier, and they’ll submit their own readings, too, so everything matches up smoothly.

Remember, even though you’re leaving OVO, you can still keep your Forum account! We have a wonderful community with members from various suppliers who are here to help and offer support if you ever need it. Don’t hesitate to reach out.

Technically, you just need to contact your new supplier asking to switch from your current supplier. They will do the rest. If any of your meters are not smart meter, probably, it would be good to take the readings on the day you request the switch and submit them them to your current supplier.

Regarding the OVO being sold to EON, it hasn’t been approved by the regulator yet. If succeeded, I assume it would take some months to happen. It isn’t something happening right now.
