Can OVO fit an 'automatic meter reader' (AMR) for my 3 Phase supply?

I manage the utilities for a smallish charity. For historic reasons the gas supply is rated 'commercial' so the supplier could not install a smart meter, but they agreed, at no cost to install an Automatic Meter Reader (AMR) that constantly tells the supplier our usage. We can also monitor this on line. Our electricity supply, from Ovo, is rated domestic but is a 3 phase supply which we do not to charge. Ovo engineers have been out and say they cannot fit a smart meter to 3 phase supplies. Though an Internet search indicates such meters are available. I would like Ovo to fit an AMR to avoid having to manually submit readings every month. But can no indications if they do such a thing. Any one any ideas?

Good question this, @FreePhase - I've asked out on site team for advice.

We don't install automatic meter readers, usually intended for commercial supplies/suppliers.

But your chances of a smart meter isn't over yet - we need to know if all 3 phases on the meter are in use, if they don't need all 3 phases or if each phase is connected to a separate meter therefore acting as a single phase each. We might be able to send out a specialist engineer, but need more info on the meter.

Hi
As far as I can see, and I also rang to check this with the electrician who does all our rewiring etc., all phases are in use.

I attach a picture of the existing meter (we only have the one) that was an early type of smart meter as you can see by the small aerial to the left of the picture. This was installed by British Gas just prior to our moving to Ovo. While I recall the installing engineer having to try various SIM cards before an adequate signal was obtained, I'm pretty sure it was never used to provide information that fed into the billing system.

Hope this helps in determining if a new generation meter can be fitted.

Thanks for the pic @FreePhase - sadly the wiring/fuses into the meter are covered up. If there are still three phases (even if not all of them are in use), we'd need to get them downgraded to a single phase before we can fit the smart meter.

Would be good to confirm as it will cost you to get an engineer out to do this downgrade. That picture might reveal something, so might an electrician!
