I just need a gas smart meter fitting appointment - is this possible?


I have recently changed over my gas supply to ovo. Already changed my electric and have a smart meter for tbis. However i have not yet been able to get an installation date for a smart gas meter. When would i be able to get one fitted. Can you please help

@Mattj3135 is spot on with this. The Care team or us Mod's can help book an appointment, but we'll first need to check if there's any reason the meter couldn't be fitted in the first place. It might just be that you haven't grabbed a free slot yet, or there's not enough engineer in your area. a PM to me with your account number, name and DoB will let me check this.

Hi @Shack65 welcome to the forum and thanks for posting.

Did the engineer say anything about your gas meter when they installed your electric one? Either way the best port of call is to reach out to the OVO customer care team to see what's going on and hopefully move the fitting of your gas smart meter on. If you prefer you can private message @Max_OVO with your name, address, OVO account number & date of birth - Max can look into it for you.

I had an engineer round today to install smart meters. He put the electric one in but said he couldn't do the gas because the meter was outside.

It is in a white box above ground. It is behind a hedge which I said I would cut back to allow access. He said he couldn't do it. How can I get one installed?

OK, so Ovo, you want me to have a wonderful smart meter so I can stop mucking about giving monthly meter readings. All very fine, only the meter you keep trying to get me to install is for electricity.

What happens about my gas meter? I see no steam and frothy water coming from Ovo about me getting any kind of smart gas meter. I rather suspect I am still saddled with giving monthly readings, which kind of makes a mockery of the main reason to get a smart meter.

I may as well carry on with my existing meters.

Unless, that is, I am mistaken and, yes, I am happy to be put right.

Hey @Fluffykins - I've moved your query onto an existing thread on this very topic.

Essentially, gas only smart meter exchanges are something we'll need to book for you. I'd recommend dropping the team a message on Facebook or Twitter (or email hello@ovoenergy.com) and we can look into this further for you.

The engineer was unable to fit the gas smart meter due to an earth wire being attached to a pipe on the meter. He asked me to re-book an apppointment. I have tried but the site won't let me, It is saying I already have a smart meter so there is no need to do anything. Obviously I dont. Have you any idea how I can re-book a smart meter for the gas. The electric smart meter was fitted successfully,
