Fuel mix, Green add-ons and OVO Beyond

We’re launching 100% green electricity and tree planting power for all OVO members on 1st October! This means that:

  • Our standard fuel mix will include 100% renewable electricity

  • We’re planting one tree every year for new and existing members

  • Members that opted for Green Energy Add-ons will be upgraded to OVO Beyond

  • The benefits included in OVO Beyond are changing

This is an exciting step towards achieving our Plan Zero goals!

100% green electricity as standard

The standard energy fuel mix for all OVO members will include 100% renewable electricity from 1st October.

There won’t be any noticeable changes to your supplies or accounts, but it means that all the electricity we’re purchasing will be from renewable sources.

Tree planting power

We’re teaming up with Woodland Trust to plant one tree every year on behalf of each OVO member.

Look out for more information about this in September.

Updating Green members to OVO Beyond

We’re no longer offering Green Energy Add-ons and will focus on the additional benefits that we can provide with OVO Beyond.

Accounts that already have Green Energy Add-ons will be switched to OVO Beyond on 1 October, unless members opt out.

We sent communications to impacted members in August, letting them know that they have until 30th September to opt out. There was a ‘I don’t want OVO Beyond’ link in the email which redirected them to the plan page on their online account to cancel. If you missed it, you can opt now before the 30th September.

Changes to OVO Beyond

Members that sign up to OVO Beyond from 1st October will now receive:

  • Five trees planted on their behalf every year

  • 100% carbon neutral energy (gas and electricity)

  • Energy Spotlights (on their online dashboard if they have a smart meter, by email, or both)

  • Carbon Offset projects in Guatemala to rebuild rainforests

In addition to these great features, the OVO Foundation will also be planting eight Tiny Forests on behalf of all Beyond members. You can read more about it on the Earth Watch website

Treehouse competition

You could win a luxury stay at Treehotel in Sweden!

Members that have opted to receive marketing communications will be notified, and they will have from 9am today until 5pm on 6th October to enter. So fill out the form to be in with a chance of winning - all you need to do is tell us your favourite tree.

The winner will be chosen at random and notified of their win once the competition has finished. You can find out more about the competition and full T&Cs on the OVO Blog

To all community members: we’d appreciate hearing from you, letting us know how you feel about this change. Leave a comment below to share, or if you’ve been effected by the chance and have any questions!

This is fantastic news @Tim_OVO! It’s a shame not every other energy supplier are stepping up and doing this. Hopefully as soon as they see OVO making this move, they will shortly follow

I was so pleased to hear this. Thank you for pushing forward and doing the right thing.
