Afternoon guys! Your next instalment of FAQs is about rewards you can earn through being with OVO. Any questions or anything I haven't covered, please comment below!

What is the Self-Service Reward (SSR)?

UPDATE 04/02/20 We removed SSR for new and renewing members on the 29th July 2019. All existing members on SSR contracts will continue to receive the payment until their SSR contract ends.

Instead of offering SSR the saving will be added to the headline tariff price.

If you manage your energy online and only call us when there’s an emergency, then you’re helping us cut our costs. We think it’s only right that we pass some of these savings onto you, which is what the Self Service Reward is all about.

How can I get it?

Here’s what you need to do to earn the £7.50 per fuel per quarter:

  • Manage your account online (receive all communications via email and make changes to your account through My OVO or the OVO app).
  • Pay by Direct Debit (and make sure it’s the recommended amount).
  • Submit readings online at least once per quarter (unless you're have a smart meter)

What if I call/get in touch?

If you can’t find the answer to your query on your online account, on our online FAQ or on the Forum, you’d be able to get in touch without losing your reward. Same goes for an emergency or a complaint.

What is the Interest Reward?

It’s a thank you for your loyalty and keeping your account in credit. It starts with a 3% reward in your first year with us. This increases to 4% in your second year and then 5% in your third year and every year thereafter. If you're in credit when we generate your statement, we'll work out your OVO Interest Reward based on the credit balance brought forward from that statement. You'll then see it on your next statement.

What is Refer a Friend?

This is a reward for introducing your family and friends to OVO, and getting them to sign up! You can send anyone you know a link via your online account. Once your friend has switched over to OVO, you’ll both get an email containing a selection of Amazon, John Lewis or Marks and Spencers vouchers as a thank you. It can take up to 30 days after they’ve switched over to arrive.

Great opportunity to share your inside info! Someone's just asked about this:

Reminder: The credit balance on which the Interest Reward in calculated is anything over 1 month's Direct Debit payment. For example if your Direct Debit is £60 and the balance carried forward is £100, the interest is calculated on the difference - £40.
