Hi there, we’ve just checked our bill today to see how much our energy would come to and it’s come to over £100. This doesn’t make sense as we were in Berlin from the 14th-17th December and then from the 25th December to the 6th January we’ve been down south staying with family. We’ve had months where we’ve been in all the time and it’s only just been under £80 The heating was definitely not on nor the electric. We then decided to check our previous readings to see if we could see any errors and there has been extra meter reading added on the 15th December. 1) we only access our account around the 6th of each month as that is when our readings are due and 2) we weren’t even in the country on this date, let alone was we worrying about checking our OVO account! Not only have we most definitely been over charged but an extra reading has been taken that wasn’t us?!

This is a bit of a strange one! The only explanation I can think of really is if a meter reader has been sent round. We have to send engineers round sporadically to take a reading and check your meter is functioning correctly. This is part of being compliant with industry regulations, and we'd need to do this regardless of whether you provide readings regularly or have a smart meter.
It sounds like the reading might be out of line with your others, though. The best way to get this looked into would be by messaging the team on Facebook with your account number, full name and DoB and they'll be able to investigate.
