I normally read my export meter twice yearly to coincide with my FIT readings.  However on the “Smart Energy” website appears the following

Question: How much data is stored on a Smart meter?

Answer: 13 months of consumption (Active Energy Import)

3 months of active energy exported

3 months of reactive energy imported

3 months of reactive energy exported

My question is : Will I miss out if if I read at 4 monthly intervals?   and..

what is “reactive energy”?

Hi @jaybell . Do you use your smart meter for your FIT readings?

Presumably you have a generation meter, separate to your smart meter.

No. The FIT readings are taken from the Solar Panel meter and the export readings from the Smart Meter

The readings are normally taken on request from your FIT provider.
As far as reactive power is concerned, this is a measure of what is called ‘out of phase’ energy and is generally not needed as it’s not useful

Sadly no -one has addressed the question which I asked re storage of export readings for more than 3 months.

The question is dealt with at the beginning of this thread 9 days ago,   So my query was? Will I miss out if readings are taken at 4 month rather than 3 month intervals?

It doesn't matter how much data your smart meter stores. All you can read from it manually is the current reading. You can't see any of the stored data.

I’m not sure of your question @jaybell. The readings are the same as standard meter readings so that the only way you might ‘miss out’ would be if the rates for generation changed but I would imagine that you would act on any prompting for that purpose.
You would be paid for export of readings from that last logged to the latest reading taken.
