As I'm not on supply yet (only signed up last night) can the referral still be applied to us or are we just out of luck?

You might be able to still use your friends referral. If you call OVO up or message via webchat, and mention you have made a mistake and provide your colleague's name and email address: webchat can be accessed via the Help Centre.
