Hi there @Guardian :)

There are online suppliers, one I can think of is travisperkins.co.uk who deliver, surprisingly they can be cheap to buy from a lot of places :)

What I would recommend is getting a Gas Safe engineer on a electrician if an electric meter to fit it, checkatrade.com can find you the best reviewed at the best price locally, as it's far safer than doing than doing it yourself :)

Hope that helps! :D

Best wishes,

A quick Google of meter box gives lots of options for purchase, although I'm not sure how universal the hinge arrangement is to fit all doors. A lot of well known companies come up, e.g. Amazon, Screwfix and a specialist called meterboxes.co.uk - they seem to have an extensive range of options to select
' People' have been twice to fit a smart meter. I say 'people' as they are obviously not qualified to do any electrical work. They say my meter cupboard needs to be re-configured to fit the meter in, but they won't do it. I am prepared to pay a local electrician to make the changes, but someone from Ovo would have to call to explain what is needed. How do we organise this?

Sorry about the delayed reply, @threepinplug and welcome to the forum. I've popped your post here as the above thread has some handy advice.

Please contact our team on Facebook, or give our care team a call on: 0330 303 5063. Our opening hours are 8am-6pm Monday to Friday, they'll be able to give you further assistance and info to pass onto the person altering the meter box.

Thanks!

Hi there
Meter engineers are allowed only to start moving meters, blocks and isolators associated with the meter set up, the outside box/cabinet should not contain anything apart from the fore mentioned and the cutout. Unfortunately solar panel engineers etc stick the wiring switches in there and that makes it impossible to fit a meter bigger than a matchbox.
If it had been me I'd advise you there and then what needed doing. Can you take a pic and post it?
