You are saying ihd costs £1 year constantly illuminated, surely this is without light constantly on.

Is it the old (monochrome) IHD or the new (Colour) one?

If it's the old IHD, the back light should turn off after a few minutes. If you've got a green light on at the top, this might be an alarm to do with your usage targets. You can adjust these yourself: https://www.ovoenergy.com/ovo-answers/topics/smart-technology/smart-meters/how-can-my-ihd-and-smart-meter-help-me-manage-my-energy-use.html.

There's also an off button on the left hand side of the device, which will turn the device off when it's powered by batteries.

It is the old black and white one.
Thank you Mw2870 I did find out how to set the screen on all the time, I haven’t got a off button on left hand side. But I just wondered if anyone had worked out the difference in cost with leaving the screen light on all the time to having it set to go off after a few minutes.

I haven't but maybe someone else has. I don't find having the backlight on all the time that useful as it defaults to the estimated bill screen which is not very helpful as it doesn't rest each billing cycle.
That’s useful.
Thank you for your help.
