@woodstok2000 I’ve redone my app completely now to ev again instead of charger. Will see if it will play nicely but it is definitely ovos end causing the issues. Myenergi found the charger to be functioning as it should be. @juliamc the zappi glo was rebooted and checked by myenergi, they found zero issues with the hardware and software in the background. It’s down to OVO not telling the charger to charge my car when it’s plugged in. Guess I will see when I go to charge it next if reconfiguring the app a third time back to ev only works

He has just been on the phone to OVO and the person he spoke to had never heard of an ECAUL… his complaint handler will be calling him back tomorrow Sadly, I’m not surprised. It’s not the sort of thing front-line support staff normally come across. Neighbour will have to be quite firm and ask his complaints handler to ask the Smart team to send the ECAUL request to configure his ALCS calendar to match the timings he’s expecting (something like offpeak every day 00:00 - 07:00, or whatever they’re supposed to be according to his tariff and region. The times probably haven’t made it on to the online account yet, but he probably knows what they should be.This isn’t the engineer’s fault, because he can neither check that the switch has been properly configured (unless he specifically asks the mothership’s back office) nor do it himself. Sometimes, meters like this are pre-configured for Economy 7, but again the timings may not be right for the specific case. There’s no reason to suppose that the same will happen to you, but if it does you know what to do.We’d be grateful for feedback on how he got on ...

My charger app was saying waiting for surplus for weeks which is great but I don’t have solar panels. But it was ovos end causing that fault. Recently it’s just been saying charging stopped and the OVOCharge app saying ready to smart charge but not charging. I’ve switched it to ev only to see if that works better instead of the charger if the issue is the connection between ovo and the zappi glo. I had something similar when I first started using Ovo - my charger isn’t supported so I connected with the car only, but it still caused problems because the charger and the ovo app didn’t play nicely together. In the end I switched my charger to ‘dumb’ mode so it doesn’t communicate at all, and I haven’t had any problems since then. I don’t know about the myenergi chargers, but if you have an option to disable all functionality except charging and just use the car linked to the ovo app hopefully that might help...

It worked absolutely fine before but OVO have even said to me in email technical have had to do resets in the background for my account because there is an issue with the OVOCharge app communicating with my charger and telling it to charge my car The OVO technical team will have access to more data and know much more than me, but on the face of it, it would seem strange that a communication issue with the app would be resolved by unplugging your car and plugging it back in so I do wonder if there’s something else going on.When you say you’re going to remove and re-add your car, does that mean you currently have the OVO app linked to both your charger and your car? That might be causing issues too as I think it should only be linked to one or the other, not both at the same time.

… the economy 7 still isn’t working, water heater and storage heaters still not getting any power. This isn’t an uncommon experience, and the solution is often quite simple if the meter is communicating properly as the engineer’s checks should have confirmed. It involves asking the supplier to send a command (called ECAUL) to the meter to configure the meter’s internal switch for the offpeak supply. The engineer can’t check this unless he happens to be on site in the middle of the night, and he can’t do the configuration himself.

Looking online you can find companies who’ll do this in your area and prices vary from £60 - £150 depending on the level of service. You can also find more information in the link below that might help Scotlandhttps://www.scottishepcregister.org.uk/https://www.homeenergyscotland.org/home-energy-check Englandhttps://residentialenergyservices.co.uk/home-energy-assessment/ I hope this helps

This may be related to the VW ID4 issues discussed at the link below. The car goes into a ‘deep sleep’ mode when left for more than a couple of hours, and doesn’t then wake up when charging is scheduled. First make sure you don’t have any charging times or sessions scheduled in the car itself. If you do, these can cause issues. Then I would suggest trying to plug your car in late in the evening and setting an early ‘leave by’ time to see if the charging works when there isn’t enough time for the car to go into deep sleep. You’ll need to make sure the battery is low enough (and set to charge high enough) that the charge has to initiate relatively quickly. With a 52 kWh capacity, a charge from 20% to 80% would take ~4 hours on a home charger (7 kW). So if you’re charging from 20% to 80%, plugging in at 10pm and setting a leave by time of around 3am should do the trick. If that works, then the deep sleep issue is more of a VW issue than an Ovo one, but there are a few solutions on the thread that may be worth trying:https://www.speakev.com/threads/post-3-2-update-issues-anybody-else.182722/#replies

Having installed and registered I've found it to be a nightmare ever since. Both my smart top up electric and gas meters don't appear, the profile shows an incorrect old address I haven't lived in for over 5 years but if I select to update my personal details, the correct address shows. Luckily I didn't uninstall the previous top up app but currently there seems to be no sign of the new app updating with my correct details? It's showing bill dates and syates my property has no active connection if I click meter readings. Is this normal and should I wait longer for stuff to appear or is there a major issue?

Have you tried not getting CA to talk to the charger but talk directly to the car? I have an Audi so from same family as VW but also have an Ohme (Audi-supplied) charger which is not compatible at all with CA. However, I have connected CA directly to the car and just use the Ohme charger as a dumb device (basically, I treat it as a box with a cable and plug on it) and it all works fine. You must absolutely not have CA know about a charger and a car at the same time but connecting CA to the car might be worth trying. Just a thought.

Hey @Nealeb No not at all, I can absolutely understand it sounds quite frustrating so absolutely no worries. I’m glad to see BPLightlog has stopped by since with some helpful advice also. I did double check with the Charge Anytime team on this to be sure but they’ve confirmed that as you can’t use Charge Anytime with your Ohme the solar element isn’t compatible as it’s set up via the car. If you have to use the Solar they would suggest deleting your vehicle from Charge Anytime, to use the solar setting on the Ohme charger then set up Charge Anytime with your vehicle again afterwards. That way you can charge your car and the charge won’t show in the Charge Anytime app. I’m sorry it’s maybe not the answer you were looking for as you say, the other fixes are on the more costly side. Do let us know how things go.

Hey @bee91 I’m glad to see a few of our community member have already stopped by with some helpful advice on this one, I hope you’ve found it useful. As mentioned, variable Direct Debit isn’t something we’ve offered for quite some time. Pay on demand is available if you’d prefer to only pay the exact amount each month, where as our Direct Debits are set up to spread out the cost more evenly throughout the year. We’ve got a few handy topics dedicated to Direct Debits and how they work which might also be helpful here: If you’ve still got any questions, do let us know.

Anyone else fed up with OVO? Serious question. Had my car charger installed on 13th April, worked a breeze for 1 week. Would plug my car in and it would instantly start charging. Ever since 22nd April nothing but problems. Had myenergi look into it and the issue is completely with OVO. I currently have a huge complaint with them which has been ongoing for weeks. The app is not telling my charger to charge when plugged in. Which is just fantastic considering I’m paying them for ovocharge anytime at £27.50 a month with an allowance which ironically I’ve barely been able to use thanks to their diabolical system. oh and to make matters even better had to fork out £30 to charge my car at an OVO compatible charger at the weekend because shocker, the charge card with credit on it wouldn’t even work. so far I’m £27.50 out of pocket a month for a contract I can’t even make use of the allowance for, up to £18 in urgent charges that I’ve had to force at my charger just to charge my car up and £30 for a charge I shouldn’t have even had to pay for!!would not recommend ovocharge to anyone right now. It’s beyond an actual joke.

Sorry… what photos…? It’s not always easy to keep track! This is what I posted a couple of days ago: I think it’s time we saw some photos of your installation, ideally: a close-up of the meter itself (with the display lit up by touching a button if necessary) clear enough to be able to read the display and the markings on the meter itself; A view of the whole backboard so we can see the main supply cable coming in from outside, and all the cables to and from the meter itself; If it’s not clear from the previous photo, a close-up of the meter exchange label - the card left by the engineer giving the numbers and readings of both the old and new meters (assuming he did leave one, as he’s supposed to do); A view of each consumer unit (fuse box) clear enough to be able to read any labels the electrician may have left to say which breaker is which. Before posting, please obscure part of the Meter Serial Number - a dodgy operator could use it to find your address. I may ask for more if we need more clarification.

Having just reread what I wrote, my apologies if I sounded at all impolite. Not my intention and a mix of frustration at the situation and trying to get all the facts in order in a written form which often sounds a bit more abrupt than a friendly face-to-face conversation.I certainly agree that under normal circumstances, a granny charger is an emergency-use only device, but in my case these are not normal circumstances! I needed something to reduce the PV energy that I was trying to export and this was both a convenient way to do it and serving a useful purpose in topping up the car battery. If this very sunny weather breaks, then it will all become a bit academic anyway but I hate not having control of a situation like this. Comes of a mix of being an engineer who likes twiddling all the controls and an obsessional interest in the numbers!I’ll drop an email to the support team and see if they can help.

You can choose to pay on receipt of bill but that makes it more expensive, both for standing charge and unit rates. OVO does not offer a “variable Direct Debit option” which is when the exact amount of your bill is taken from your account, automatically via Direct Debit, each month.Personally, as someone on a fixed income, I would not choose either of these. I much prefer the Direct Debit that I have been paying for a few years now of £100 per month for gas and electricity. I also, deliberately, choose to keep a certain amount in credit throughout the year as it allows us to choose to keep warm in winter and to use our electric oven or tumble dryer if, absolutely, necessary. I also have a glass fusing kiln that I do not use as often as I used to use it, but again, my Direct Debit allows me to be able to choose to do so whenever I want to.OVO do review our usage and Direct Debit payments every three months. Every day on my online account, there is a box (see attached graphic) that advises what my minimum payment could be. Personally, I ignore this. When my DD is added to my account tomorrow, this amount is likely to change to a lower amount. If I made the change, the amount I would be paying I know would not cover my winter usage. Whenever OVO tell me, via email, that they intend to lower my Direct Debit, I ask them not to do so.One of the things that our change from a traditional meter to a smart meter sending readings every half hour that we could see the next day was to highlight how energy hungry some of our appliances were. We now use our air fryer and/or the microwave instead of the main oven. Since we use electricity for almost everything except heating and hot water, even during the summer, this gave us instant savings that we could actually see from real, personal data rather than product promotions. At the moment, there are a couple of current OVO promotions available to those with smart meters that do give small, extra savings: Power Move and the 2 hours of free electricity. In my view, every saving is worth having!

So pleased to hear your French trip went well @Nealeb. You'll have the confidence to venture further now.I have overlooked mentioning the other pleasures of travelling in France. Good quality roads, clear signage, litter free verges and everywhere generally. Not to mention the food and drink facilities that are fairly priced and abundant. Sorry I could rattle on for ages!Brittany ferries are offering a 20% discount on tickets for June, July and August I have just read. They have categorically stated they are unaffected by the fuel supply issues as they pre stocked months ago and will not be cancelling crossings in light of the current situation. Clearly though bookings are down anyway otherwise they wouldn't be discounting in the holiday season.Look forward to hearing your experience @Chris_OVO with your trip down Spain. That's a long trip and you'll be covering all bases on that one.Thank you @Peter E for your insight to energy supply. It's a tricky one as it's all so new but I feel comfortable in the knowledge that progress has and is being made.

Thanks, that helps clarify things a bit.I think my confusion is that I’m currently paying around £49/month by Direct Debit, but my actual usage seems closer to about £26/month. I originally thought that getting a smart meter would mean I’d simply pay exactly what I use each month automatically.A couple of years ago with previous suppliers, my monthly payments used to vary depending on actual usage, so I’m trying to understand whether OVO’s system is different. If I get a smart meter, would I still stay on a fixed averaged Direct Debit, or is there an option to pay based purely on actual monthly usage from the smart meter readings?I’m basically trying to work out whether:keeping the traditional meter + current DD,	getting a smart meter + fixed DD,	or getting a smart meter + paying on receipt of bill	would make most sense for my situation.

I’m considering getting a smart meter ovo gets accurate readings instead of estimates. Usage is only estimated when the supplier doesn’t have meter readings to go by. Most suppliers now use monthly billing periods, so those with non-smart meters have to submit readings on the right day every month if the resulting bill is to be accurate. Meter accuracy is carefully controlled, and we’ve seen very few cases of imprecision - most of them involving gas meters. Did switching to a smart meter help you:	reduce your Direct Debit? The type of meter has no real influence on the size of the Direct Debit (DD). OVO recalculate the estimate of future consumption and thus the recommended DD amount whenever a meter reading is received. Having a smart meter means that both these figures will be more reasonable. Did switching to a smart meter help you:	stop overpaying? What do you mean by ‘overpaying’?Do you think your bills are higher than they should be considering your usage? Bills will always be based on how much energy has been consumed, and the only way for the supplier to know that is from meter readings. Or do you think your Direct Debit is too high compared to the size of the bill each month? You will only ever have to pay for the energy you’ve used. For billing to be accurate, then, there must be regular meter readings. Non-smart meter customers should submit monthly readings; smart meter customers don’t have to. Did switching to a smart meter help you:	get more accurate bills? I think I’ve already answered this point. The bill will be as accurate as the data it’s based on. … were there any downsides? None at all that I can think of. I suppose some might regret the amount of time they spend on playing with all those lovely figures that become available after having a smart meter installed. I don’t!

OVO policy at the moment is that everyone should have at least one months direct debit of credit on 31st March, so DDs can sometimes be inflated for a year to achieve that figure. Then of course even DDs for actual use are averaged over a year, so in summer you pay for more than your actual use, in winter you pay less than your actual use.OVO don't do a “pay what you have used this month” DD. Some other suppliers do but that means that your DD will change every month, which isn't great for budgeting. As for smart metering then yes go for it, especially if you keep having estimated readings.Just having accurate readings rather than estimates can often reduce your DDs.(It can take up to 12 months but I reckon that my overall DD has now reduced by about 30% fom what it would have been, simply by having accurate readings sent in everyday by the smart meter). As for reducing your usage it's a case of each to their own, but with a smart meter recording half hourly usage then you can see from the timings where you are using a lot and work out what appliance is using it.Eg. My main electric oven/hob only gets used verry occasionally now I've seen just how much power it uses, it's much cheaper to cook the same meal using Air Fryer and Microwave.

Using PV charging at home without CA charging me!

Abby, thanks for the comments, but I think that that misses the point. To answer your specific questions first, though. I have an Ohme charger as there was no choice - it comes as part of the package with my Audi. It was only after installation that I discovered that this was no longer compatible with CA although fortunately I could connect my Audi and CA directly and use the Ohme charger as a dumb device. That bit all works fine.Options might be replacing the charger with a solar-compatible charger (I believe that such things exist) or buy the DC charger option for my PV inverter/control box - for another £3K or so!So why was I using a granny charger when I already have a working charger? Another part of my problem is this very sunny weather when I produce so much PV energy that my system keeps disconnecting from the grid to avoid over-voltage. So, after persuading my wife to do some baking and lots of washing machine use, I hit on the idea of using my granny charger. The idea is to soak up some of the PV energy to a point where I can keep my grid connection intact and upload energy to the grid without overloading anything. And, indeed, that theory worked and I exported more energy yesterday than the day before. I could not use the Ohme charger as 7kW would be too much and need import from the grid but the 2.3kW charger was just about right. I have already used my Charge Anytime quota for this month, so this was a two birds with one stone exercise - charge car with free energy. Then, last night, checking my app, I found that I had, quite unexpectedly, been charged for this, even though none of the energy came from the grid. I was surprised by this as I had not involved Charge Anytime at any point in doing this. In essence, then, my question is how can I use my granny charger to make more efficient use of the energy I am generating myself without Ovo charging me for the privilege? At the moment, I am still waiting for my SEG account to be set up (paperwork taking longer than PV installation) but once it is in place, I shall be in the strange situation of earning money by running a 2kW electric fire in the garden to maintain my energy export by dumping excess energy! I have contacted my installer, just to see if I can throttle things back a bit on the PV generation side but I would really just like CA to get out of the way! How can I tell it not to interfere with something that does not concern it?

Hey @Nealeb What charger are you using with Charge Anytime? If you have solar you should have a compatible charger. Is the granny charger the only charger? The best option is to use a charger which is compatible with OVO, granny chargers should be avoided where possible and only used in emergencies.

Hey @ConfusedJim I’m glad to see a couple of our community members have already stopped by with some helpful advice on this. As they’ve already mentioned, everything should remain the same in terms of the tariff and the meter should work as intended and switch to the peak/off-peak times correctly. If any changes to contract had been required as a result of the meter change, the Support Team would have had to discuss this at the time of booking. If the meter’s in a communal cupboard and you have concerns about whether there’ll be enough space or concerned about access, then it might be worth speaking with facilities management to make sure that they’re aware of the job if there’s anything that might prevent the job being completed. If it’s in a communal area, they may also know if others in the block have had smart meters fitted. The following topic may also be helpful here: I’ve lived in flats in various locations across Scotland over 10 years now, all with pretty poor mobile signal and I have to say I’ve had smart meters in all, and never had an issue so it’s not commonly an issue, or as a direct result of it just being in a block of flats. I would be hopeful from what you’ve said here that everything should go ahead smoothly, and the E7 will begin to work again. Do keep us updated with how you get on.

Some months I only use around £27–£45 worth of energy, but they still take about £50 every month and I feel like I’m building up too much credit for no reason.I’m considering getting a smart meter ovo gets accurate readings instead of estimates. Did switching to a smart meter help you:reduce your Direct Debit,	stop overpaying,	or get more accurate bills? Also were there any downsides?Would appreciate hearing real experiences before I agree to the installation.

Hi Peter E,Sorry, but we do seem to be going around in circles, here! My original post was about the fact that the specs for the QM050RF state it has an ‘input rating’ of ~1kW and has ~7kWh of heat storage implying that it can, on an Eco7 tariff, fully charge its 7kW of bricks ‘overnight’. However, I can only see it charging at 700W max and therefore it does not ever fully charge, as confirmed by its own stored data; never charging more than ~4.2kW. I do appreciate I only have six hours but nevertheless it could be storing considerably more energy than it currently is.I can’t get any sense out of Dimplex as to a understanding how the unit works better or a work-around and they have now stopped answering my emails. It is very disappointing. I am resolved to the prospect of trying to use something like Home Assistant to take advantage of the additional random daytime cheap periods of power but, as I say, I kind of feel like I have been mis-sold the heater.

A little bit of background on relative pricing. France has a mature fleet of nuclear reactors which provides a lot of low cost base load whereas over here we don't have that and gas can set the marginal price of electricity which is relatively high in comparison. With increased renewables the number of times that gas sets the marginal price is reducing but we are not there yet. On top of that we charge 20% VAT on commercial charging although an interest group took HMRC to court who ruled in favour of it only being the same as domestic users at 5% because it is mainly for non commercial purposes. HMRC have appealed. I estimate that will drop the price by 10p but don't hold your breath as to the appeal failing or the CPOs passing on the saving. (Jaffa cakes all over again if you remember that) A third and little known contributory factor is that the government incentivised Charge Point Operators to put in a lot of Rapid (>25kW) chargers but they seem to have over ordered the connection capacity and it seems that the high connection charges are reflected in the resultant price/kWh and is putting people off outside charging. Low usage is making the situation even worse for the viability of CPOs. There have already been a number of takeovers. Did we just snatch failure from the jaws of victory? Peter

Thanks for confirming @charlene.m, they’ve confirmed that the top up for the gas on the 24th went through and is on the meter balance, but the electric top up didn’t go through, and this will have been returned to your bank. You should see the money back in your bank very soon, and hopefully the meter balance will have updated now on your side. Please check your bank account to see if the money for the other top up was taken. If so, it should be automatically refunded by the end of the week. If you don’t receive it, please reach out to our Support Team so they can look into this, and get it refunded for you. Please keep us updated as to how you get on, and let us know if you have any further questions.

I'm now back from my own trip to France. Probably around 1000km across Brittany and Normandy. I can only agree with Sparky - I had no problems at all in finding a charging point; all were working and I never found a site where all were occupied, even at a busy supermarket. To be honest, the biggest issue was which one to go to! Although I only needed to recharge 5 or 6 times, my preferred locations were usually at supermarkets and in one case a big DIY store. "Aire de covoiturage" (car-sharing area) was also a good choice as these are usually just off main roads so easy to get to, although no facilities apart from the charger. I didn't stop at any motorway service areas. To pay, I used a mix of Plugsurfing RFID card (and their app to find chargers), the car's Audi GPS with its charger network and using the Audi app to pay, and on one occasion at Lidl I was able to use the CA app which used some of my public charging allowance. I think I used a credit card once but you cannot assume that a charger will accept credit cards - probably the least popular option. To compare prices - I topped up at a 150kW charger at Lidl in Normandy at a cost of approx 35p/kWh. My local UK Lidl has a 50kW charger which costs 74p/kWh. Go to France with as little as possible in your battery and top up before you come back!

Because I have plenty of spare PV energy in the current weather and because I have already used this month’s CA allowance, I thought I would drag out my granny charger and use that - didn’t need to use the car today anyway. So, plenty of sun, and put 15kWh in the car battery. So I was a bit surprised to find that Ovo, via my CA account, have charged me for using my own electricity! Especially given the amount of energy I am currently uploading for no payment while I wait for some weeks for my SEG account to be set up, this seems a bit rough. How can I charge my car with my own electricity without Ovo charging me?

Yes we are an economy 7 tariff and haven’t been told when arranging the appointment that anything would change in that regard. We have a bit of a development in the story though - another neighbour, also supplied by OVO, has exactly the same issue as us. I had thought they wouldn’t be old enough to be affected by the RTS switch off though - they’re digital and don’t have any black transmitter box nearby

Very roughly - if you are North of a line from the Mersey to the Humber estuaries then you will be on Long Range Radio for smart metering. South of that it's the mobile phone signal.Things are changing though, so while those sre the preferred methods they are not set in stone like they used to be. There is even smart metering over the internet coming for awkward cases.Yes a smart meter can handle E7, but it needs to be a dual rate meter, and may need an auxiliary switch for the off-peak circuit. I assume you are already on E7 with OVO so that should happen automatically. But you may want to confirm with support that that is what the engineer will be fitting.

The meter will work.Whether it communicates by 3G/4G or by Long Range Radio the new meter should be able to communicate it’s readings to the Data Communications Company (DCC) and OVO picks them up from there. If for any reason the new meter cannot communicate with DCC then you will have to send in readings to OVO, but that’s no different to what you do now with your non-smart meter. However if your flat is too far from your meter then your In Home Display may be too far away from it to communicate properly. It was/is a problem with blocks of flats, but there is something called ALT-HAN that should be able to help with that.https://althanco.com/what-we-do/https://althanco.com/how-it-works/

Why smart meter wouldn’t work in the block of flats? It uses mobile phone network (unless you are in Scotland, it’s a bit different there) for sending data. It should be fine! I used to live in the high-rise building, and my smart meter worked perfectly. There could be some issues when you need your gas meter to send data to your electricity meter – sometimes they are too far away from each other. But even in that case there are some solutions found. But, if you are in the high-rise building, I’m sure you won’t have that kind problems! So, yeah, just book the replacement and let them do their job. P.S. My guess is that you were on Economy7 tariff, but when RTS was switched off, the cheap part of the tariff stopped working.

Hi, we are having a bit of a saga here, about a month ago our water immersion heater that works on the economy 7 stopped working. We’ve had various plumbers and electricians at it and it’s still not working, but one of them suggested that we try and see if our storage heaters (which had been turned off for a while) were working. The storage heaters didn’t work either, so having tested everything he came to the conclusion that the problem must lie with the electricity meter. It’s an old one, probably still the original from when the apartments were built 25/30 years ago I think. The electrician said he was fairly sure that a smart meter would not work here, as we are in an apartment block. Have called OVO today to ask for someone to come and have a look at it. They were very insistent on booking an appointment to install a smart meter, which has duly been made, but will it work? And if, as seems likely, they can’t get a smart meter to work in my flat, what is my next possible course of action? At wits end, any advice from anyone who’s experienced a similar issue would be hugely appreciated

Hi @Phlash It depends if you have a suitable load and you can control where you take your load from. As I'm not an OVO customer I don't know the exact scheme conditions but @Nukecad may be able to clarify. If you were able to direct the load from the grid into your battery then it will be free. But if the PV would have filled the battery anyway then it may look as if you have gained nothing in the process but if you were to sell the PV output as a SEG (because the battery is full and you are still generating more than you use) then you have gained. However, if you don't carefully control what you take from the grid then it could end up costing you more than what you could have saved. To be honest, the scheme works best with simple arrangements of just applying an additional load like washing machine etc rather than having to manipulate the extra technology you may have to make it work. The question only you can answer is ‘Is it worth the hassle and how much could you lose if you got it wrong?’ I'm fully expecting other answers to appear on here on how you you can manage this successfully with the extra tech but it probably hinges on how well you can control your system and when to stop importing from the grid. Peter

Please could you try deleting the app from your device, and then re-downloading it. let me know whether this works. If you can log in, but the app / meter is still not displaying your payment, please contact our Support Team. If you send them the proof of payment, they’ll be able to get the credit added on to your smart meter. Please keep us updated as to how you get on. I’m also going to ask a colleague in the PAYG team whether they have anything further to suggest, and will let you know if so.

If you have any balance left to pay, then you can make a manual card payment for the remainder. If you have any balance remaining in credit, we’ll refund it back to your bank. To confirm, when you cancel your Direct Debit, you’ll receive an email requesting that you set it back up. This email is automated - feel free to ignore it. I hope this helps, and best of luck with your new supplier.
Morning again @DBClark, I’d recommend speaking to our Collections team if they’re trying to contact you, as they’ll be able to set up a payment plan which will stop the Collections communications coming through. You’ve mentioned that you have been refusing to pay estimated bills, however if you now have a smart meter in place then your bills should be accurate now to meter readings since the installation was completed. When the meter was exchanged, the engineer would have had to (if possible) take a final reading from the old meter. I assume this may not have been possible if the meter had failed. However, the engineer may have been able to retrieve the final reading from the internal memory of the meter once it was removed, even if the reading wasn’t displayed on the screen. Have you checked the statement that covers the date the meter was removed, to see if the removal reading was an actual reading? If it was, then the bill will stand. I’d really recommend checking whether this is the case or not. Regarding legal advice - we’d recommend that you seek proper legal counsel. We can answer questions on the Forum as best we can, however, when it’s relating to a complaint like this that relies on someone actually checking your energy account and bills, then this needs to be directed through our Complaints team. I’d recommend getting back in touch with your Complaints handler for an update. I hope this is all sorted for you ASAP.

We have solar panels and a small battery. There is still 20% left in battery when the current solar bonanza kicks in for the new day. Surely I am just using PV to generate electricity which then goes round an unvirtuous circle to earn about £0.45 for a one hour slot. What am I missing here?

Just out of interest, my balance is currently positive and have about £160 in credit. I have recieved an e-mail from Ovo saying they can potentially keep taking the DD from my bank for a month and a half or maybe longer (switch date is 27th May). So technically another £150 minimum from me if that happens. When it comes time to refunding me, will it go directly back to my bank or will they send me a cheque? I honestly do not wish to deal with such an archaic payment method that requires time and effort on my part to cash it in (not only that, but it’s incredibly difficult for me to leave the house and getting people to help outside of the house for these things). I’m currently debating about stopping my DD due to this and just letting Ovo eat up the existing balance so I don’t have to deal with a cheque. Thanks again for your time!Regards,Woo!

Things seem to be going smoothly and my switch is due to take place on the 27th of May. I appreciate your help (and fellow members) with this and previous questions. Wishing you all the best! Regards,Woo!
