Please could you contact Charge Anytime about this one and send them your screenshots, and they’ll be able to forward this on to their tech team. Let us know how you get on - hopefully this is an easy fix for them.

This guide gives some good info on all aspects of the ‘Usage’ pages: If this isn’t the case, and the electricity usage is displaying zero usage between midnight and 7am, this could point to the meter being set up incorrectly, or just a technical error with the app / online account. Please could you check the browser online account portal, and let us know whether the issue is the same there? We look forward to hearing back from you.

So before leaving I thought I’d check my balance. Not bad, £242 in credit !. But then I saw why. My direct debit according to OVO is £90 pm, but my bank shows £126 pm. It’s been showing this since November 2025. At that time I was ‘only’ £115 in credit, but for some reason not explained on the bill my October 2025 DD was £193. It then settled at £126.	I’m not too bothered about this, but it does beg the question ’can we trust what we see on screen ?’	Cheers,	Buzby	I would check to see if you have received an email recently reducing your Direct Debit from the next payment. OVO review our accounts and DD every three months. Your most recent bill is the best place to check on your payments. This is the summary page of my most recent bill. I have highlighted my Direct Debit details.

@Tricko said I’ve had to chase Octopus a couple of times for Outgoing payment since starting tariff in March It is only April now! Or do you mean March 2025?If so, your payments should automatically be on each monthly bill, as mine are, assuming your meter is being read automatically as it will be smart, and you also pay Octopus for electricity imported.Your weekly graph shows a drop in £ after the first 2 days - is there a similar drop in the kWh readings? If not, then the rate must have changed. Or has your household usage of electicity increased, leaving less spare to be exported. You should have some way from the Solar providers of seeing what is being generated by hour, day, week, month etc. Does that show a similar decrease?

I have not contacted your technical team since the last message. Two things have happened. I have had a contact from Skoda UK. Their opening sally was to say that the original offensive comments were translated from the Czeck and this would account for the hostility. Be that as it may, Skoda Tech services did not offer a solution. The second is that, applying my engineering training, I analysed all the settings and decided that the only setting that no none talks about is the plug disconnect on charge ending. I have changed this setting to “Keep the plug locked at the end of the charging”. Since then I have 3 successful overnight charges. More tests to do before I am confident but...

Back again with a weird one. I’ve had to chase Octopus a couple of times for Outgoing payment since starting tariff in March. Which they have done when asked, just prefer not to be asking. Anyway since the last payment the Solar export figures have been way down. With the decent weather we’d been getting payments anywhere up to £1.15 per day. But as of last Weds after the payment they gave us most we have received is 19p. And we have had some amazing sun. Our usage hasn’t changed in the house but it’s dropped right off. It’s not as though it’s not doing its thing it’s just not as much as I would of expected considering it’s getting warmer.Does something weird happen to panels if it’s very hot? Any insight would be really appreciated. Also they’ve been in a year now do they ever need cleaning?

Hi @Sylvie ,AFAIK the answer to that is yes. You’ll need to switch over the Electric first if there’s currently no Gas supply, which you can do via https://switch.ovoenergy.com and once that’s set up, you can put a request in via OVO Support to enable a Gas supply and have a meter installed. If there’s a registered gas supply already, you may be able to switch both at once but if not do Electric first and go from there.

If you do struggle to get the photos up, please don’t panic as they’re not crucial. I think I’ve got a pretty good idea of how the setup works even without them - the photos would have just made it a little easier to be sure.Based on what you’ve said though, I’m definitely pretty confident you do have an RTS (Radio Teleswitch) Meter of some kind so I’ll do some digging through my notes I have on them and see if I can get a lock on the exact type based on what you’ve shared. If you feel comfortable replying to this thread, please feel free to do so at your convenience. I’ll be here when you feel ready to talk again.I hope you get well soon.

I’ve added the ‘owns an EV’ badge to your Forum profile so that other members can recognise the kit you have. Let us know which option you go for with Charge Anytime. I’m assuming you’ve probably seen this already but, just in case, here’s the page that details our Hypervolt Home 3 Pro installation. Definitely a great choice of charger . Below I’ve shared our Charge Anytime FAQs forum article. This should hopefully give you all the info you need to make your decision as to which package to go for. If you do have any questions, please don’t be shy - there’s a great community of helpful EV enthusiasts here that are always happy to help. Cheers!

Morning @NotSoSmartMeters, I’m happy to hear that this is partially resolved, and I’m hoping that it won’t be too long until your completely set up and happy that you’ve been charged correctly. When you speak to the advisor they’ll be able to check the charges for you to see if they’re accurate. Even with the change from PAYG to PAYM, the smart meter should have been recording the readings and sending them to us automatically. I live in a one bed property with electricity and gas, and my bills are generally around the £80 - £100 mark in the winter. The heating and hot water make up the vast majority of this usage. It’s possible that the bill you’ve received is accurate, but the advisor will be able to check the reads and ensure that the charges are correct, and not billed to estimates. Keep us updated as to how you get on, and let us know if you have any further questions.

Extended Fixed tariff - when are early exit fees payable?

Thanks, @Chris_OVO - but we’ve still not cracked this one yet.	… the application of an exit fee depends on the specific tariff and the date they joined it. Referring to the original post about Extended Fixed, the key phrase is "change your supplier or plan," specifically the reference to "plan."	If the customer's contract for that tariff began at a point when the exit fee only applied in the case of "if you change your supplier," then there is no internal switching fee, and they can "tariff hop" without penalty. Timeline:March 2025: Customer joins Extended Fixed, with expiry August 2026	August 2025: Terms change	April 2026: Levy change - by decree, no effect on ‘joining date’	June 2026: Customer switches to the latest Extended Fixed.	Will the ‘Extended Fixed joining date’ remain the same - i.e. prior to (2) above, and so render the tariff subject to draconian exit fee terms, or	will the ‘Extended Fixed joining date’ now be in June 2026, so that the tariff then enjoys the less stringent exit fee terms? I suppose it comes down to what meaning is attached to ‘join’ in this context. Does ‘I joined Extended Fixed on 3 March 2025’ mean something other than ‘My Extended Fixed plan started on 3 March 2025’? Have I joined an exclusive club, so that I remain a member until I enter into a different sort of contract with OVO or another supplier? Looking at the wording of the screenshots above it specifically draws attention to changing suppliers would incur an exit fee. I hope this helps! Only in certain circumstances. What happens if the customer ‘joined’ OVO 1-year Fixed Loyalty after 19 August 2024? In the absence of specific conditions, §10.4 of the Core Terms must apply, and they’re still as ambiguous as they were the last time we discussed this!IARGIANAL

For some reason the OVO webpage I arrived at online only gave me links to PAYG portal and app But I managed to install the right one thanks to the links provided here. So now pay monthy is set up. My AHD is now showing gas as well as electric which is great. The downside is the debt on the meters hasn't disappeared and I'm getting emails and texts about paying it. I've got an OVO agent calling tomorrow so I'm hoping it can be resolved. The first bill.appeared and I had to pay £67 for last month, which didn't sound right seeing as I was only there for two weeks of that time and didn't have any white goods during that time. Just heating, hot water, lights and charging phone. Hopefully it'll all get resolved. Thanks to Nukecad for helping me get access to the app.

Both. If you wish, you can pick a Monthly Plan where you pay upfront for a bundle that includes an allowance of Public and Home Charging or you can go A La Carte with Pay As You Go.If you go for a Monthly Plan…You’ll get 700 miles a month of Home Charging included on the Standard plan as well as a voucher for £120 of Public Charging credits to use via the OVO Charge app - this will work at most public chargers and you can check eligible ones via the app. You can also pick a higher plan if you desire a bigger Home or Public Charging allowance. It’s a bundle deal so if you stay within the allowances, that’ll be all you pay for EV Charging. Anything beyond that is at standard rates. If you go for PAYG…You pay on an A La Carte basis, for which the current rate is 14p/kWh. You’ll initially see the usage charged at full rate on your OVO bill, but the system will apply Charge Anytime credits once a month to bring it down to the appropriate discounted rate. There is no monthly fee if you pick this option. You’re welcome to flip between them whenever you want.

Hey @Firedog & @Bendog, I’ve picked this up for @Abby_OVO and spoke with our contact in tariffs. They’ve came back with the following response: “Customers are free to change tariffs at any time, but the application of an exit fee depends on the specific tariff and the date they joined it.Referring to the original post about Extended Fixed, the key phrase is "change your supplier or plan," specifically the reference to "plan."If the customer's contract for that tariff began at a point when the exit fee only applied in the case of "if you change your supplier," then there is no internal switching fee, and they can "tariff hop" without penalty.I know there has been some discussion regarding the levy changes and how they might affect contract dates; however, for these purposes, there is essentially no break in the contract, and the relevant date is when the customer first signed up for the tariff.” Looking at the wording of the screenshots above it specifically draws attention to changing suppliers would incur an exit fee. I hope this helps!

Nice! In that case, I can help a little bit. I don’t tend to research the tariffs other suppliers do for EVs, but I do know the OVO setup well.If you want to use Charge Anytime, you can basically just pick whatever OVO Tariff you want for the main home and then trigger the Charge Anytime Add-On for the EV Charging element - they run interpedently from each other so you’re free to mix and match whichever combo works for you. The main requirements are:A Smart Meter - OVO can upgrade you for free if you don’t have one yet	Pay Monthly via Direct Debit	A compatible EV OR Charger - you don’t need both	A compatible iOS or Android device for the OVO Charge appCA will apply the discounted rate by issuing credits once a month to your account as it’s a Type of Use arrangement. There are no time restrictions.

… the reason is I am planning to fit 14 solar panels a sun sink 5KW inverter and 16.1 Fogstar battery ... Make sure the equipment is compatible. We have had a thread on here recently where someone can't get their inverter to talk to the battery. Consequently they have a full battery but no way of discharging it. Your solar export (SEG) can also be with a different company from your import. Look at the T&Cs to check what the requirements are. OVO do a good export rate if you arrange the installation with them. A good SEG will mean you get paid for your large summer generation when you can't use it yourself. Peter

I suppose the first thing to do is sort the solar panels, and hybrid system etc. then see how much excess I’ve got in regards to power.I have a Combi gas boiler, but in my attic is still the existing header tank and cylinder all piped up.. there’s just a blank ends for the flow/return for the cylinder and the hot and cold. It wouldn’t be a big job to put an immersion heater into the cylinder and connect up the shower. but I’m wondering, what would save me the most money, cutting down my hot water or cutting down my heating which you only use in winter when you have no solar. The dual fuel heating elements might be the easiest and best because I would still have my Combi as back up for heating but if I was to connect up my cylinder to the shower then that’s something that’s more final. But then again, you don’t need heating in summer

Hey @Carolnoddings ,You’re good to go regardless of the installer! Charge Anytime doesn’t require any particular installer - you just have to have a compatible EV or Charger which can come from basically anywhere that is approved by the manufacturer and (for EV Chargers) has been installed by a qualified installer with manufacturer approval. This allows for folks to switch to OVO with already installed chargers (for example) or so you can choose a preferred installer if you’d rather someone else did it.Once it’s in place, you can grab the OVO Charge app and go from there.Just curious, but are you new to EVs and, if so, what EV did you pick?

That sounds like a good start. The only advice I would give is to keep it simple. Some people start off complex control systems designed to make life simple and spend all their time trying to make it work. I would say start simple and only make it as complex as it absolutely has to be. I used Tapo smart plugs for simple time control but you can get temperature sensors and switch things on and off accordingly. Peter

Thanks for your response. I think the best way to look at it is Wi-Fi sockets, can they be linked to some kind of house thermostat? I could just get basic dual fuel heating elements for my designer radiators and towel rails.I think it may be better to go down there home assistant routeThe reason why I’m looking at dual fuel is when he gets really cold as mentioned I could always just use my central heating. I would also like to use , if possible, my unused cylinder in my attic that has the cap where an immersion heater can be fitted.

That leaves spring and autumn where solar will help out to some extent. I use cheap electric with an air to air heat pump for most of my heating and supplement that with gas on the very coldest days. I'll have a look around for solar/heating combinations and get back to you. I will probably ask ChatGPT and follow up leads that are promising. I'll probably get back to you this afternoon. What make are your designer rads? Peter

Guaranteed Standards of Performance (GSOP) compensation - a guide

Guaranteed Standards of Performance Guaranteed Standards of Performance (GSOP) are a set of service guidelines set out by our regulator, Ofgem, that all UK energy suppliers must adhere to. They ensure that we give you the best possible service. If we fail to meet any of these standards we’re required to issue a £40 GSOP payment as compensation. Below you can find out more about the GSOP standards, and when we’d pay the £40 compensation. We’re required to pay the £40 within 10 working days of any GSOP failure. If we don’t make the payment within 10 working days, we’ll pay you a further £40. Meter appointments Our engineers carry out appointments to install smart meters, or to fix or replace faulty meters. If we ever book a meter appointment for you, we’ll agree to a date and four-hour time slot with you. If we need to cancel or re-arrange the appointment, then we need to give you at least 24 hours’ notice. We’re also required to send an engineer with the correct skills and tools for the job. If you request an initial smart meter installation, we have to offer an appointment date within 30 days, and then complete the installation within six weeks. Please note, this is only the case for your first attempted smart meter installation. If we fail any of these requirements, we’ll credit your account (or send a cheque if you’re a PAYG customer) with a £40 GSOP payment. Faulty meters If you tell us that you think your meter isn’t working as it should be then there are standards we must meet, depending on what type of meter you have: Traditional or smart credit (pay monthly) meters If you tell us that your credit meter may be faulty we have five working days to: Check whether the meter is faulty	Let you know the next steps following this assessment	Confirm the results of the assessment and the next steps in writing If we don’t meet these requirements then a £40 GSOP payment will be made for each failure. Traditional or smart prepayment (Pay As You Go / PAYG) meters If you think your PAYG meter is broken and you’re off supply we’ll either fix the issue remotely, or send an engineer to your home: Within three hours if you’ve contacted us during the week (Monday - Friday) between 8am - 8pm	Within four hours if you’ve contacted us on a weekend or bank holiday If you think your PAYG meter is broken, but you’re on supply, we’ll agree the next course of action with you: Within three hours if you’ve contacted us during the week (Monday - Friday) between 8am - 8pm	Within four hours if you’ve contacted us on a weekend or bank holiday If you contact us outside of working hours we’ll contact you as soon as possible the next day. If we don’t meet any of these requirements then we’ll send the £40 GSOP payment as a cheque. Smart meters and In Home Displays (IHDs) If you think your smart meter isn’t working as it should be, then the same timelines, regulations and compensation amounts listed above apply based upon your meter type. Within five working days OVO need to complete an assessment, agree the next steps, and confirm this all in writing if you believe: We’re not receiving automatic meter readings from your smart meter(s)	You receive an inaccurate bill due to the smart meter(s) not sending automatic readings	Your IHD isn’t displaying real-time information such as usage, costs and rates	You’re unable to top up your meter remotely (if you’re a PAYG customer) Failure to meet any of these standards will mean we’ll add a £40 GSOP payment to your account (or send a cheque if you’re a PAYG customer). Reconnecting your supply If we’ve disconnected your electricity and/or gas supply due to unpaid debt, then we’ll reconnect the supply once you’ve made the necessary payment. If the payment is made within OVO working hours, we’re regulated to reconnect your supply within 24 hours. If the payment is made outside of our working hours, then we must reconnect the supply by the next working day. Failure to meet these requirements will mean we’ll pay the £40 GSOP compensation. Switching suppliers and moving house When you switch suppliers, or close your account due to moving house, there are standards we must meet regarding billing and refunds: Final billing We must issue a final bill within six weeks of the switching date or change of tenancy	We must issue a final refund within 10 working days of sending a final bill Five working day switches When you switch to OVO, our aim is to get you up and running as quickly as possible. With ‘faster switching’, changing energy suppliers typically takes around 5 working days, unless we’ve agreed a different date with you. There are times when your switch might take a little longer. For more details, please see the “When switching might take longer” section of our Faster Switching Policy. If we don’t complete your switch within 5 days, we’ll credit £40 into your account unless: We don’t have all the information needed to complete your switch	We think there’s evidence of a fraudulent switch	The delay is for any other reason beyond our control Erroneous Transfers Sometimes electricity and/or gas supplies can be switched to another energy company by mistake. This can happen due to a supplier taking over a neighbouring house’s supply, a mistake in an address, or human error. In the Industry this is known as an Erroneous Transfer (ET). If your energy supply is switched away from us in error, we must adhere to these standards: We’ll contact the other supplier and let you know within 20 working days whether the switch happened under a valid contract	If you’ve already spoken to the other supplier, we’ll work with them to resolve the ET within 20 working days	If we confirm the switch was an ET then we’ll need to take back your supply within 21 working days of the ET being confirmed	If we take over your supply erroneously, we must return it to the other supplier If we don’t meet the above timescales, or we accidentally take over your energy supply, we’ll pay you the £40 GSOP compensation. Electricity Distribution Networks and Gas Transporters Electricity Distribution Networks and Gas Transporters are separate organisations in charge of the energy cables, pipework and infrastructure running up into your property. If these organisations cause an issue with your supply, they may be required to pay you compensation. Sometimes, they’ll pay us the money, which we then must credit to your account (or send as a cheque if you’re PAYG). If we fail to pay this compensation to you within ten working days of receiving it, we’ll need to add on the £40 GSOP compensation. When you might not be eligible for £40 GSOP In some situations, we may not offer a £40 compensation payment. These include: If an engineer can’t make your appointment due to circumstances beyond our control, like severe weather	If you tell us that you don't want us to take action on the problem you reported	If you haven’t followed the troubleshooting steps we’ve provided as part of your meter investigation	If your meter's been tampered with	If we can’t get access to your meter or home	If nobody over the age of 18 is at home when we visit for an appointment	If you turn down our offer to fix a faulty prepayment meter Please note that all of the information on this page is subject to change if Ofgem publishes new guidance. Need more help? This topic is now closed, so you won’t be able to reply here. Is the blanket completely not turning on, or does it turn on for a little while and then shut off? I’m just trying to gather some information so we can get to the bottom of this together! If it really has no power in several sockets, just let me know, and I’d be happy to check if we have any replacement options available for you.

The current day never shows, that’s because although the meter saves the half hourly usage figures they are only sent to the DCC once a day.(Then OVO requests them from the DCC, all that usually overnight but sometimes not until later, there can be delays at either/both DCC or OVO in getting the figures onto your account). If the half hour figures are showing in your Usage but not in Power Move then that would seem to suggest that the PM team are not requesting, or not receiveing, them for some reason. You could contact support and ask if they will transfer you to the Power Move team, but TBH I’m not sure if they can do that or if they can only note your request and then pass it on to the team.@Bradley_OVO is there any chance that you could ask Ashley and the PM team to look into this for @Jwitchell ?

Hey @Confused358 ,Based on what you’re saying… I think you’ve got a THTC (Total Heat Total Control) setup - with this type, certain heating sources are allowed to run 24/7/365 at a reduced rate. This is not a recommended option if you no longer have Storage Heaters and Immersion Heaters - it’s probably costing you more than it should. You will need to swap for a Smart Meter to resolve this. Support for ALL RTS Meters are being phased out over the next couple of years and the shutdown process has already started - some areas of the country have already had RTS Services disabled for example.I’d suggest having a word with OVO about this and see what other tariff options might be more suitable for you. But before you do that, can you post some photos of the meter setup real quick? If you can, I might be able to give more accurate advice. Thanks!

That is from an app. I have an electric car as well as the solar and battery, so I have two apps with this type of diagram. This MyEnergi one is actually the car charger, the other app is for the battery. I’ve no doubt there’s one for the solar inverter too (my Solis inverter in the photo earlier in this thread), but I didn’t need another app!!!Your installer should be able to sort out the app for your inverter so you can see what’s going on. Let’s hope 🥺Wattage-wise it’s really only things involving heat that use lots of electricity, so water heating, space heating, then oven (an air fryer can use a lot less than an oven), tumble dryer…

I checked back in with the same specialist about this as I didn’t think that would be a necessary change and they’ve confirmed there’s no need to do anything differently during the renewal period. @Abby_OVO I think you missed the point of my question, and we both got side-tracked …We have established that sliding seamlessly from one plan to another - as happened on 1 April - doesn’t alter the ‘joining’ date which determines the conditions for an exit fee to be payable. Sliding seamlessly from my Extended Fixed plan to another during the renewal period won’t attract an exit fee, but the sterner terms - “Exit fee: £75.00 if you end your contract” - will apparently still apply. Switching to a different plan - e.g. Simpler Energy - just for a day before entering into a new Extended Fixed contract should generate a new ‘joining date’ and so ensure that the exit fee conditions are the more favourable ones - “… if you change your supplier.” Does your specialist agree with this assessment? PS I asked Bendog about the specific exit fee terms of her contract. I looked them up for myself and was a bit surprised to see this: Spot the difference between §6.1 and §6.2 .I may seem to be making heavy weather of this, but I had to fight last time I switched tariffs to get a wrongly-applied exit fee reversed.]

It would be useful if you can. It’ll give an idea of how much the solar will supply your requirements. Can you ask your installer for the inverter size too. For example on a sunny day, if the inverter is 4 kW and you run the electric shower (which may be 7 kW) the remaining 3 kW will automatically come from the grid.
