Huge increase in charges from one month to the next - is this because the readings were estimated?

Hello, I recently had my statement from OVO come out of my credit. Last month it was £32.16 and for some reason this months is £80.19. I totally forgot to put my meter readings in this month but i dont think anything can define £80.19 from £32.16? surely it should be the £58 as guaranteed in my fixed contract? I haven't changed anything regarding electricity in the property, and me and my partner are barely at home due to work. It doesn't make any sense and we wasn't advised on a price increase from yourselves either? I have also noticed Last month they took my bill out on the 28th and this months is the 19th? surely that isn't a month?

Hi @danchy19

I can only assume because you did not submit meter readings. You were probably charged from guessed estimated readings.

I would recommend you submit your readings this month and every month and ay overcharging will correct itself, or see if you can arrange for an OVO engineer can install smart meters in your home which will save you having to manually submit meter readings :)

If you're in a fixed contract, your prices won't change but the monthly payment might need to: https://www.ovoenergy.com/help/direct-debit-review
