When will OVO allow customers to align their direct debit due date with their bill date or date they are paid i.e. OVO have moved to calendar monthly billing periods, but still do not offer the option of moving the direct debit date to align with either this or your monthly salary income date. Quite a poor user experience if you ask me.

It is possible to do this, I moved my direct debit date from 16th to the 1st a few years ago so that it aligned with my statements.
To do this you need to contact customer service directly, you cannot do this yourself in MyOvo.
