We had a power cut last night and the following morning. What would be great from Ovo is proactive contact about the outage and when to expect it back on again. I know it's that national grid that is responsible (who we had to contact to find out) but a really good energy supplier would be on their customer's case finding out what's happened and advising when to expect power back on.

Fortunately we're 12 months on from needing sterilising machines, bottle preps, etc, but we still have a baby monitor - all of which are affected by power cuts. I appreciate that cuts should be isolated events, but if we hadn't reached out to the national grid we would have been completely blind to what was happening.

Hi Gibbsy,

Great suggestion here - I’m not surprised that you want to be kept in the loop about power cuts. You did hit the nail on the head though. There’s already a process in place for households to get the latest on power cuts - it’s the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) that has this info.

Check out this great OVO Answers page, with advice on what you should do in a power cut.

Hi, I've just joined the forum, which was clunky and wasn't particularly easy (e.g. you have to agree to the T&Cs without having sight of them). The forum seems to be a completely different area, and would be far more useful if it could be selected from the homepage, like Martin Lewis Moneysaving website.

What a great suggestion - @Tim_OVO @Lucy_OVO or @Darran_OVO please can you pass this feedback on 🙂

Hi @bournefree & @B4xsy, thanks for the feedback.

When you say you'd like to be able to select the forum from the homepage, do you mean the homepage of OVO's website?

Be great if we could confirm, but if thats what you are referring too, I think its a great idea. :)

Definitely help make the forum more visible to more users :)

Firstly - I agree with @bournefree having the forum on ovo website homepage and as the pinned post across your social media accounts would make it more obvious for customers to come on in.

Secondly - I'd really like to see a "who's around today" section that features at the top of the forum homepage so that users know which moderator is available to help with any queries or questions other customers don't have.

Thirdly - I'd like to see some kind of "mutual ground rules" whilst the majority of users have common sense and know what's appropriate when - it would be useful to have them available on the forum for users to know and have clear boundaries.

Fourthly - I'd like to see a way for OVO employees stand out from other users - maybe with the ovo logo next to their name (instead of a tick like Facebook/Twitter) as well as their picture.

Finally - re the email notifications sent - if you have already commented on a discussion and a new comment is posted where you are mentioned - you get two email notifications with only one of them having a working hyperlink. Possible change it to only one email being sent in these instances (if your algorithm allows for it)

Do you have any thoughts to add @Smiter to this great discussion?

Hope this is what you where after @Darran_OVO

Oh actually power cuts as my hubby has to sleep with a cpap and i am sure many customers rely on oxygen machines etc so maybe some sort of system that provides priority to those in power off situations xx

Hi @Mattj3135,

Great feedback, definitely some things for us to look into. We do have a welcome topic which features the ground rules and a link to the terms and conditions of the forum, not sure if you have seen that? I've included a link below just in case.

https://forum.ovoenergy.com/anything-but-energy-25/welcome-to-the-ovo-forum-13/index1.html

We are looking at adding a widget to highlight whose recently been online so we can see who's more likely to be available etc.

In regards to being able to spot the OVO moderators, we do have a OVO logo on our profiles which appears next to our picture, see below:

Is this what you mean?

Email notifications is definitely something I will feedback, it does seem a bit overkill to get 2 We may not be able to change that, but will definitely look into it.

Thanks again for the feedback, keep it coming!

Hey @Darran_OVO thanks for posting back - sorry about my delayed reply!

Awesome that you've got some ground rules 🙂 and it's great to hear you're looking at having a widget to know who's online etc.

In relation to spotting ovo moderators - it is and isn't what I mean - on a small device it's hard to differentiate between a normal user and ovo moderator as the ovo logo is so small and is the same colour as general users silhouette of a thumb. Perhaps extract the ovo logo to the end of the name?

Hope this helps

Hi @Mattj3135

Thanks for the reply. I'm still not 100% sure we are on the same page! I'm sure its the sun that's gone to my head....!

So all OVO staff have _OVO after their name so you can spot them on the forum. When you are on a topic on a mobile screen, you can definitely see Emily_OVO, or Tim_OVO next to the picture for example. Can you share a screen shot of what you mean/or are seeing, so we can try and help?

Cheers

Darran
