How you can help...

 

We know that times are incredibly tough. Yet we can’t help feeling heartened by the way that people across the nation are coming together to support one another.

 

If you’re looking for ways to lend a helping hand, check out this list of great charities. Pulled together by the team at our charity, OVO Foundation.

Nationwide Nextdoor // Nextdoor is the neighbourhood hub for trusted connections and the exchange of helpful information, goods, and services. Join your neighbourhood. People are currently using it to both ask for and request help. Click here Sign-up and see if there’s anyone you can help locally
Nationwide Covid Mutual Aid // Mutual aid groups are self-organised groups of people setting up individually to support and help people in their communities. Members of the groups are volunteers. Click here and here Set up your own group or join a local one
Nationwide Local Helpers // Local Helpers is there to connect people in affected communities to support one another with essential tasks like food shopping or collecting medicine. Click here Sign-up and see if there’s anyone you can help locally
Nationwide The Trussell Trust // The Trussell Trust is working to stop UK hunger and poverty. Their network of food banks provides emergency food and support to people in crisis. Right now they need help with food distribution to help people who are self-isolating.  Click here

Nationwide FareShare // FareShare is the UK's largest charity fighting hunger and food waste. They save good food from going to waste and redistribute it to frontline charities. Nationwide Give Blood // The need for blood never stops. Centres are open and you are still allowed to travel to give blood. They are following government guidelines to put special safety measures in place for social distancing. Click here Sign-up to donate blood
Nationwide The Big Give: National Emergencies Trust // The Big Give is matching donations to the National Emergencies Trust (NET). NET, in partnership with the British Red Cross, has launched a fundraising appeal to raise and distribute funds to support communities made most vulnerable by the coronavirus outbreak. Nationwide - volunteer online Stemettes // Stemettes is an award-winning social enterprise working across the UK & Ireland and beyond to inspire and support young women into Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths careers (known collectively as STEM). Nationwide End Youth Homelessness // End Youth Homelessness (EYH) is one of OVO Foundation’s partners and supports the most vulnerable young people in the UK, those experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. They are concerned that the COVID19 crisis will prevent services from running and leave young people unsupported, without food or worse. Click here

Bristol 1625IP // 1625IP is one of OVO Foundation’s partners through the ‘Future Builders’ programme. They support young homeless people in the South West and are responding to the immediate challenges of Covid-19. Square Food Foundation // Square Food Foundation is one of our OVO Gives Back charities. It teaches people from all walks of life to cook good food from scratch. They are also providing free meals to vulnerable families and children during Covid-19 and expect to feed 500 families a day. Click here Donate to Square Food Foundation

Off the Record // Off the Record (OTR) is also one of our OVO Gives Back charities. It’s a mental health social movement by and for young people aged 11-25 living in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

 

It’s important to look after our mental health just as much as our physical health in a challenging time like this so OTR are posting wellbeing tips on their social media accounts.

Download festival are selling T-shirts where all profits go straight to the NHS to help with the COVID-19 crisis.

And EMP Online also have an amazing t shirt! I don’t believe it helps the NHS. More of a gimmick t shirt. I will not be able to post the back of the t-shirt from a certain word. But the design of the front looks awesome!
